Movies About Writers & Authors

Hello all you writers and Movie Buffs! Even if you’re not filling such a description, I’d like to share numerous movies about writing, writers, authors, their successes and travails. Allow yourself some time for a movie while staying safe in this COVD-19 World!

Having recently watched “The Professor and the Madman,” I needed to share this with you. “Based on the worldwide best-selling novel by Simon Winchester, THE PROFESSOR AND THE MADMAN is an extraordinary true tale of madness, genius, and obsession about two remarkable men who created history with the writing of the Oxford English Dictionary. The compilation of the Oxford English Dictionary began in 1857 and was one of the most ambitious, and revolutionary projects ever undertaken. Professor James Murray (Mel Gibson) took on the challenge of creating the most comprehensive dictionary ever compiled, but knew that it would take him and his team [of three men] over a century to compile all known definitions.” And so the intrigue, characterizations, voices, settings, emotions, etc. begin. I am sure you will be delighted no matter your favorite genre.

The following link will lead you to numerous movies wherein the themes are specifically concentrated on the art of writing. https://www.pastemagazine.com/movies/films-about-writing/the-writing-on-the-screen-20-great-movies-about-wr/

One movie of which I am familiar and not on the linked list is “COLLETTE, a French author and woman of letters. She was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948, and was also known as a mime, actress, and journalist.”

Enough for now. I sit comfortably in a recliner, ice tea with lemon and a bag of microwaveable popcorn (that I will not share) and enjoy a show.

Just sharin’, as usual. 🙂 #buckroth
